Brow Lift in Scottsdale & Phoenix:Jonathan C. Weinrach, MD FACS
A brow lift (also known as an eyebrow lift and forehead lift) is a popular cosmetic technique to correct low, sagging eyebrows and stress lines on the forehead.
The passage of time, gravity, loss of skin elasticity, and a lifetime of forehead and eyebrow motion all contribute to low eyebrows and forehead lines. Eyebrows that are too low contributes to upper eyelid tissue excess and hooding, producing an aged appearance.
Dr. Jonathan Weinrach a highly experienced and plastic surgeon in the Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ, area, has performed countless brow lifts over the past 16 years. His browlift technique is safe, effective, and produces long lasting and natural appearing results.
Oftentimes brow lift is combined with other cosmetic surgery including facelift or eyelid lift to create an overall facial rejuvenation. Eyelid lift, sometimes referred to as eyelift or blepharoplasty, removes and repositions extra tissue around the eyes, producing a more refreshed, youthful appearance.

The Steps Before A Brow Lift
The best candidates for a brow lift are people with low eyebrows who have realistic expectations about the outcome, are in good health, and are nonsmokers.
During a brow lift consultation, Dr. Weinrach will carefully listen to your concerns, review your medical history, and examine your eyebrows, forehead, and hairline. He will then recommend the best plan to rejuvenate your eyebrows and forehead. He will give you clear instructions to follow both before and after surgery.
Brow lift is usually an outpatient procedure. If combined with a facelift, an overnight stay may be recommended, depending on the circumstances. You should arrange for an responsible adult to accompany you back home. Anesthesia will impair your driving ability.
Safety is of utmost importance to Dr. Weinrach for brow lift and all other procedures. Dr. Weinrach utilizes only fully accredited surgical centers; anesthesia is provided by board certified anesthesiologists.

Various Brow Lift Techniques
Jonathan C. Weinrach, MD FACS usually performs forehead lifts under general anesthesia. Brow Lift technique has evolved greatly. The basic types are:
This technique is not recommended for the great majority of people. The classic coronal brow lift utilizes a large incision made from ear to ear across the top of the scalp. The scalp is then elevated to gain access to and manipulate the muscles underneath the eyebrows. Extra scalp is then trimmed to lift the forehead and eyebrows. Dr. Weinrach does not usually recommend this technique as the incision made is long, it causes numbness of the scalp behind the incision, and hair loss around the incision is common.
Endoscopic forehead lift involves making several shorter incisions in the scalp behind the hairline. The forehead is elevated with instruments placed through these incisions. A camera is placed through these incisions as well to guide dissection, as well as to visualize the eyebrow depressor muscles which are divided. The forehead and eyebrows are elevated and the tissue is secured into its new position by many different methods such as sutures, temporary screws, or absorbing anchors or “tacks”. While this procedure does not cause a large scar, results tend to not be long lasting and recurrence of eyebrow ptosis (drooping) is high. As a result, Dr. Weinrach does not recommend this technique.
This is Dr. Weinrach’s treatment of choice. This brow lift procedure is long-lasting, can be carried out rapidly, and most importantly is a very powerful and long lasting method of raising the eyebrow. During surgery, Dr. Weinrach makes an incision in the hairline of the temple area. Dr. Weinrach can then mobilize the skin between the hairline and the eyebrow. The eyebrow is then lifted into its new position by placing upward traction on the newly mobilized skin. The extra tissue is then removed. This method also can improve the hairline in patients with thinning of the hair in this area.
Getting Back To Normal After A Brow Lift
Brow lift is a relatively quick procedure that can be carried out on an outpatient basis. You will be able to get up and walk right after surgery. Dr. Weinrach encourages only light activity during the following week.
Swelling and bruising can occur after a brow lift, and usually disappear within a week. Keeping the head elevated after surgery can help with swelling. Arnica and Bromelain are also very helpful.
Modern techniques like the lateral subcutaneous eyebrow lift lead to a significantly shorter recovery period than older methods like the classic or endoscopic lift, with less pain and discomfort.
In general, most people can return to work within ten days of a brow lift or even less. Activity should be kept light for a few weeks after surgery. We are always available, Dr. Weinrach will follow you closely after surgery.
